Here are excerpts from the interview:
Q: Please tell us more about the horse you purchased recently at the Karaka Ready-To-Run Sale. What was made him special?
A: He first caught the eye with his impressive breeze up. He didn’t run quickly time, but it was more the manner and action that attracted me to him. He has a really long stride, and he moved so freely. He looks a genuine Classic style horse. Secondly, he is very well-bred, being by Ocean Park out of a More Than Ready mare, closely related to So You Think. He ticked all the boxes.
Q: Could you please tell us about your other purchases during this ready-to-race season, if any?
A: We purchased one other ready racehorse, by Not A Single Doubt at the Inglis sale. He ran a fast time and again had a beautiful action. We thought he would make a lovely late 2YO.
Q: What sales do you frequent to purchase your Ready-To-Race 2YOs?
A: While only a very small number of our team are purchased from Ready to Run sales, under normal circumstances I try and get to every sale, if possible.
Q: What are your plans for the upcoming yearling sales season? How many horses do you typically buying during the yearling sales season?
A: Hopefully we are operating in a normal environment in 2021. We are already set to start inspecting horses at studs in NSW for the upcoming Gold Coast Magic Millions sale. With a bit of luck, borders will be open by the time the sale is on, and we can purchase some lovely yearlings.
Q: What are your ambitions for your business over the next 10 years? And what do you feel has been the greatest factor contributing to your success?
A: I would like to continue to add horses of the highest quality to the team. We have built an outstanding record in our short history, and that is because we have a process and systems in place that work. We will continue to build over the next few years, hopefully providing more wonderful ownership opportunities for our owners.
The greatest contributor to our success is our process. From the selection of horse to early education, and then on to the trainers, we have the right team and a process that we trust.
Q: Who is your favourite racehorse and why?
A: Favourite racehorse of all time would have to be Sunlight. Such a Champion mare, who I saw at the races many times. I loved her tenacious attitude and her racing pattern.
