Grandview Stud’s Gr.1 Stradbroke Handicap hero Under The Louvre became the 21st first season stallion to get off the mark when his son Cadboll ground out a gutsy win in a maiden over 1100m at Sale on Friday.
Beaten less than two lengths when sixth at Moonee Valley at his career debut on January 21, Cadboll found plenty under Michael Poy to defeat the heavily backed favourite Tramontana (Toronado) by a half-head with Metzarro (Pierro) three-quarters of a length back in third.
Another of the seemingly endless production line of winners from the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable, Cadboll is a homebred son of the Domesday mare Eschaton, a direct descendant of the grand New Zealand champion La Mer.
