Nature Strip will contest this year's Everest after trainer Chris Waller confirmed the star sprinter would take his stable's slot in the race.
In October 2021, twelve of the fastest horses compete for A$15 million in prize money, making it the world's richest race on Turf.
Waller reached an agreement with the horse's owners, that will see the three-time TJ Smith winning son of Nicconi attempt his third Everest run.
Nature Strip returned to his best this preparation with a dominant win in the T.J. Smith Stakes and is set to continue through to the Brisbane Winter Carnival, where he will be targeted at the Doomben 10,000.
Managing part-owner Rod Lyons said he is 'ecstatic' Waller wanted Nature Strip to run in his slot in The Everest.
“We take an abundance of joy out of racing Nature Strip and being a part of Chris’s team, it was an apt decision to align with his slot for 2021.
“Nature Strip has again shown us his capabilities as Australia’s best sprinter this Autumn, and we eagerly await The Everest in October," he said.
Waller has pencilled in a barrier trial in the lead up to Nature Strip’s next start in the Doomben 10,000 on May 18 before he sets sail for the Everest at what will likely be his third run in the spring.
