4YO Lonhro mare Lyre will is headed for the breeding barn at the end of the season but while she is still racing, her trainers have planned to aim her at three top races, which gives her the chance to once again win the highest level.
The Anthony and Sam-Freedman-trained Lyre, who won the Gr.1 Blue Diamond Stakes in 2019, will run in Gr.1 Robert Sangster Stakes at Morphettville before heading to Queensland to likely target the Gr.1 Stradbroke Handicap and then the Gr.1 Tattersall’s Tiara.
The mare who has placed second many a time in her career has taken a couple of runs to get fit.
Lyre is has been set to peak on Saturday.
"This will be her last campaign before she heads off to the breeding barn, so hopefully her next three runs are likely to be in Gr.1s and she’s in peak fitness."
"And she's in really good form, so hopefully, she can pick up one or two of them," said Freedman.
