Gordon Richards is confident stable star Gytrash (Lope De Vega) can cope with barrier 15 in Saturday’s Kingsford-Smith Cup (Gr.1, 1300m) at Eagle Farm.
The 5YO finished third in The Goodwood (Gr.1, 1200m) last start, behind the reopposing Savatoxl (Kuroshio), and Richards is confident he can add another Gr.1 to his CV.
The barrier might be a bit sticky but that’s why you put good jockey’s like Jason (Collett) on, Richards told RSN.
There’s a bit of pace out there and it might break it up so we can slot in closer to the rail. However, I don’t think the draw is that disadvantageous anyway as there’s only one bend to get around and I think he should be OK. I’m as confident as I can be going into a Gr. 1. I’m very happy with him and he show’s a better turn of foot going the Queensland way.
