Mrs John Magnier, Michael B. Tabor, Derrick Smith and Westerberg owned Bolshoi Ballet is the lead contender for the US$1 million Gr.1 Saratoga Derby Invitational crown.
The son of recently deceased Galileo is trained by Aidan O’Brien. The colt was a visual treat when he won the 10-furlong Gr.1 Belmont Derby Invitational in July under Ryan Moore.
T.J. Comerford, the travelling assistant for O’Brien, said the team is expecting another top performance.
Following a successful juvenile campaign that included significant Group Three events in Ireland, Bolshoi Bellet was shipped to America and he will be hoping to provide O’Brien with his first Saratoga winner in his eighth attempt.
Moore, a three-time champion jockey in his native Great Britain, seeks his first win at Saratoga in his third attempt following a runner-up effort with Mendelssohn in the 2018 Gr.1 Travers and a sixth with Idaho in the 2017 Gr.1 Sword Dancer.
