Simon Foster recently moved back to Australia after working with the KRA in Korea where he trained Group One placed Dolkong, going into a Training Partnership with his long-time friend Patrick F Ryan at his Warrnambool base.
Although Foster is originally from Western Australia, he believes Victoria is the heart and soul of Australian racing and decided to focus his attention towards that direction.
The Foster-Ryan team will have 30 horse boxes at the start, to put paid to his belief that a trainer should be able to provide the best environmental needs for every individual need of every individual horse he has on his books without having to rely on a chain of command that happens in most large stables.
Their immediate plan is to expand the current stable on track at Warrnambool and fully utilise Ryan's developing property on the outskirts of Warrnambool, giving them the option of not only using the highly successful Warrnambool Racecourse training facilities, the world-famous beach and sand dunes but also the ability to train out of paddocks at the farm and at all times have direct supervision of every horse
Ryan has strong racing root at Warrnambool racecourse where his brother still trains. His uncle the Melbourne Cup-winning jockey and Group One-winning trainer Pat Hyland has been a strong influence in his career.
Foster has acquired a few horses to take their stable tally up to fifteen which includes a cracking yearling colt by Zed, Out of stakes-winning mare who has 3 to race for 3 winners including the 6 time Hong Kong Winner and Stakes performer Magic Moment and the 4-time winner and Group 1 and stakes-placed Princess Rihanna. There are a few shares still open and available in Zed.
