Pogo rises to the Challenge

Last year’s Listed Midsummer Stakes winner Pogo  returned after a last-start second in the Gr.2 Challenge Stakes in October to land the Listed EBF King Richard III Stakes at Leicester yesterday.

The Charlie Hills-trained 5YO was sent off as favourite of the four runners and was ridden close to the pace by Kieran Shoemark. He hit the front a furlong from home and saw off the challenge of Mums Tipple (Footstepsinthesand) to win by a length and a quarter, while Beat Le Bon (Wootton Bassett) was third.
