Coolmore and Godolphin may look to use their respective Everest slots on the Heritage Stakes (1100m) quinella as Home Affairs led throughout in class-record time to defeat Paulele.
Both 3YO colts drifted in betting but defied market trends with respectable efforts in the Listed race at Rosehill.
Coolmore's Home Affairs ($6.50) burned to the lead from barrier nine-under Nash Rawiller, running his first 500 meters in 29.51 seconds. The son of I Am Invincible, who is trained by Chris Waller, maintained his strong gallop to the line, with his final 600m in 33.16s for an overall time of 1:02.67.
James McDonald had ridden Home Affairs in three of his four starts last season but was aboard Godolphin's Paulele ($3.50 favorite), who was drawn to the immediate outside of Home Affairs but settled in a rearward position.
McDonald looked to improve Paulele's position off the track through the middle stages but as Home Affairs kept running time in the lead it made his task impossible, with Home Affairs equaling the class record set by Anders in last year's Gr.3 San Domenico Stakes in winning by 1.5 lengths.
Home Affairs ($13) and Paulele ($16) both firmed with Sportsbet following the Heritage for the $15m Everest (1200m), to be run at Randwick on October 16.
Meanwhile, news emerged on Saturday afternoon that Newgate has reached an agreement with slot-holder Yulong Investments to secure an Everest start for Moir Stakes winner Wild Ruler, who is assessed as a $21 chance with Sportsbet.
