With International Air Ambulance Week taking place between Sept. 5-13, Coolmore Stud has pledged a three-year financial commitment to Irish Community Rapid Response, the charity running Ireland's first community-funded air ambulance.
The air ambulance has been called upon on several occasions to tend to stricken jockeys, including Grand National-winning rider David Mullins last October at Thurles.
The Coolmore team are fully aware of the importance of the vital service, with Ana O'Brien praising the work of the team who helped her in the immediate aftermath of a serious fall at Killarney in 2017.
The apprentice rider escaped with a fractured C1 vertebra in her neck and T6 in her back, as well as fractured cheekbones bilaterally.
Each mission costs €3,500 on average and the charity is campaigning for people across Ireland to sign up to become Friends of the Air Ambulance.
