The holster was purchased for $240,000 by Hawkes Racing from the 2018 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale. His grand dam is dual Gr.1 winner Tristalove who produced 2001 Spring Champion Stakes winner Viking Ruler and 2003 VRC Derby runner-up Kempinsky.
The son of Tavistock was runner-up twice from five starts for Hawkes Racing, including behind subsequent VRC Derby runner-up Hit The Shot over 1400 meters at Ballarat Synthetic on August 11, before being sold at the 2020 Inglis Digital September (Early) Online Sale for $70,000.
Holster made his stable debut in a 1400-meter maiden at Sandown Hillside on December 9, finishing second behind Typhoon Harmony.
The 4YO geldings settled last in the nine-horse field was held up between the 500 and 300-meter mark yet ran the best closing sectionals of the race – his final 600 meters in 33.92 seconds and final 200 meters in 11.6 seconds.
