A huge syndicate of Tricolours Racing owners had a reason for post-Christmas celebrations when their talented Star Witness mare Threeood scored a valuable victory in the Gr.3 Bell of the Turf Stakes (1600m) at Gosford on Tuesday.
Originally trained in Victoria by Mick Price, Threeood was switched to Joe Pride in 2019 and he has done a great job nurturing her through her classes with this assignment her first attempt at a Black Type race since joining his stable.
Threeood enjoyed a good run from barrier one with Rachel King in the saddle and cruised clear to win by a length taking her overall record to six wins and nine placings from 28 start with prizemoney topping $343,000.
Bred by Gilgai Farm, Threeood is a half-sister to stakes-placed Infinite Wisdom and is the best of three winners from Sencircles, an unraced half-sister by Street Sense (USA) to Group III winner Decircles from the family of champions Elvstroem, Haradasun, Starspangledbanner and Highland Reel (IRE).
Sencircles was on-sold by Gilgai Farm in 2019 for just $16,000 and has missed the past three seasons in a row.
Threeood is the 16th stakes-winner for Widden Stud’s ever-reliable sire Star Witness, who has 10 entries for Magic Millions 2021.
