Edward Cummings began a journey many of his family members have made joined a string of famous family members to train a Gr.1 winner when Duais ran clear for an easy victory in the Queensland Oaks (2200m) at Eagle Farm.
The grandson of the late Cup Kings Bart, Cummings said he would savor the ground-breaking victory but indicated it might not be the last feature race for the filly, who dashed down the outside to win by a space.
I thought she could win that and I am so glad she did," Cummings told Sky Thoroughbred Central.
A win like that obviously makes you think about bigger prospects in the spring and those prospects come much more firmly into focus now.
For champion jockey Hugh Bowman, it registered his 99th Gr.1 winner and it was one he will long remember.
On the line, Duais, who was heavily-backed into $2.80 had a two and a half-length margin over the Chris Waller-trained Charms Star ($8) who edged out stablemate Signora Nera ($19).
Cummings said the enormity of the victory will take some time to sink in.
